Shoulder pain causes include avascular necrosis, brachial plexus injury, broken arm, broken collarbone, bursitis, cervical radiculopathy, dislocated shoulder. Commonly used ICD-10 codes for left shoulder pain
Shoulder pain may arise from the shoulder joint itself or from any of the many surrounding muscles, ligaments, or tendons. Shoulder pain that comes from the joint usually worsens with activities or movement of your arm or shoulder.
Various diseases and conditions affecting structures in your chest or abdomen, such as heart disease or gallbladder disease, also can cause shoulder pain. Shoulder pain that arises from another structure is called referred pain. Referred shoulder pain usually doesn’t worsen when you move your shoulder.
Shoulder pain causes include avascular necrosis, brachial plexus injury, broken arm, broken collarbone, bursitis, cervical radiculopathy, dislocated shoulder, frozen shoulder, heart attack, impingement, osteoarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, rheumatoid arthritis, rotator cuff injury, separated shoulder, septic arthritis, sprains, tendinitis, tendon rupture, thoracic outlet syndrome, and a torn cartilage.
Treating shoulder pain often involves soothing inflammation (swelling and redness) and strengthening muscles. Several ways you can take care of yourself and relieve shoulder pain are anti-inflammatory medication, cold compress, compression, heat therapy, muscle relaxants, pain medication (such as acetaminophen and aspirin), and rest and activity modification. You’ll need treatment along with home remedies if you have a serious shoulder injury. See your doctor if you have any of the following: pain, repeat problems, stiffness, weakness, and a separated or dislocated shoulder.
